Heartland Bigfoot is a community-driven tracker of reported Bigfoot sightings across the heartland — Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. It launched in July 2026 with 12 seed reports and a simple goal: give the regional Bigfoot community a clean, modern home for their sightings.
The premise
There are dozens of Bigfoot sighting databases online. Most are clunky, unmaintained, or dominated by older reports with no way to add new ones. Heartland Bigfoot focuses on a specific region — the tri-state area — and keeps the data fresh through community contributions.
How reports get added
Every sighting on the map was submitted by a witness or aggregated from public reports. Each one is reviewed before it goes live — we redact identifying details, fix obvious typos, and sometimes decline reports that don't include enough information to be useful. We don't verify or debunk. We just present the data.
What we don't do
- We don't claim the sightings are real.
- We don't claim they're fake.
- We don't pick a side in the debate.
We're a place for the data to live, presented neutrally. Believers and skeptics are both welcome.
The tech
Static site hosted on Netlify, with a self-hosted visitor counter using Netlify Functions + Blobs. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap via Leaflet.js. No third-party tracking. No advertising yet (planned for the future).
